I never wanted help
When thinking about what to write today I came across this website; it is American but with many similarities to here https://stopasuicide.org
One paragraph, below, struck me as particularly pertinent. They all (and more besides) applied to me when I was at my lowest:
"WHY DON'T SOME SUICIDAL INDIVIDUALS SEEK TREATMENT? Low perceived need Wanting to handle the problem on their own Believing the problem is not that severe Believing that treatment will not be effective Believing the problem will get better without treatment Stigma
These barriers to treatment can interfere with getting prompt and appropriate care. If you recognize any of these attitudes about seeking treatment in persons who have thought about suicide or engaged in suicidal behaviour, please follow the ACTION STEPS referred to throughout this website to connect the person to intervention."
Please do take time to look through the website.
